knock knock

Knocked up.

I’m a bad liar. I really am.  A good actor but a bad liar. I’m also not very good at keeping a secret. My own secret that is, your secret is safe as houses with me. Not my secret to tell, so no temptation.

But my own secrets? Terrible.

So if you’re wondering where I’ve been…well I’ve been puking my guts out. I was hoping to skip that this time around, but lucky me! I guess I am not ever destined to be one of those glowy happy pregnant people. I’m a bit down in the dumps about that, if I am being honest.

Quite a bit in the dumps about that.

If anyone has any magic cures for serious nausea and such I am all ears. They put me on Zofran two days ago and all I got was severe abdominal cramps. Not working so much.

So to recap, thrilled to be pregnant. Down in the dumps about being so sick. Heartbroken everytime the Boss asks “Mommy you want to play ball with me?” and I can’t.

Hear that? That’s my heart breaking. Because eventually he stops asking and starts asking for his grandmother.

Heart. Broken.

So now you know where I’ve been….puking. I’ve missed you all.

  1. Congrats!!!! I had wondered, from your Twitter feed, if you were!! Hoping that you start feeling better very soon!!! Thrilled for you and your family! Y’all make cute babies!!

  2. Happy, Happy, Happy for you! Congrats and hope the nausea gets better. Don’t worry, the Boss is not the only kiddo that has had to endure a pregnant mommy. I felt horrible at first too when I was pregnant with my second, but it will get easier! Take care!

  3. I knew it! I noticed you had been twittering a lot about being sick and I was like ‘That chicks knocked up!’ congratulations! Fingers crossed for you the morning sickness ends soon!

  4. Congrats!

And I was sick most of my second pregnancy and I did Ginger tea and Ginger caspules. I would like to believe they worked. But I’m also open to the idea that it just gave me something to do a few times a day.

Ps. I totally had all that guilt because I couldn’t do much with my son while pregnant. It sucked. But he still loves me!

  5. Awwww, congrats!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry your sick!! In Canada they prescribe Diclectin, its meant for nausea in pregnancy. I’ve had a few girlfriends take it and they swear by it. So much harder to be sick when you’ve got a toddler running around!

  6. So many congrats to you!

Things that worked for me…unisom, preggie pop drops, lots of hot showers and new disney dvd’s (to keep the toddler entertained).

I hope it eases up for you.

    xoxo

  7. Congratulations! I hate to say that nothing but time ever really did anything for me with the nausea. Ugh. But, despite thinking that I would be sick forever, and ever amen – I wasn’t. There came a day that I felt GOOD, even though I was convinced that day would never come.

And I’m fairly certain my son has forgotten the days when I spent most of my time on the couch, starting yet another Yo Gabba Gabba on the DVR.

  8. Congratulations! Like the other commenter, I totally was guessing this based on Twitter! Being pukey sick with a toddler is no fun. I spent the first four months with my second halfheartedly playing on the floor with my first before dashing into the bathroom every five minutes. All day. While the husband was in the field. I think I would have paid a million dollars to have a mother-in-law at my disposal . . . so milk it, baby! No guilt for letting Grandma spend a little more time with him. Being sick will pass and he’ll totally forget that you couldn’t play with him.

Lemonheads, crystalized ginger, seabands and the Unisome and B6 combination were all things that worked with my first. Nothing helped with my second.

  9. I KNEW IT! At least, I suspected, but yelling ” I SUSPECTED!” isn’t quite as exciting……

Anywhooo it’s so cool you are going to have another Beatle-bug and that the Boss will have the gift of a sibling- although it’s really sucky that you are sick. Those pregnancy hormones must be running on high speed!

    Hope you feel better soon!

  10. Squeeeeee!! The world definitely needs more of your little munchkins in it! However, I’m rather sorry about you being a terribly sick pregnant lady. That blows!@

In other news….I am sooooo like you. I’m a great actress, but please oh PLEASE don’t ask me to lie. I am the WORST liar EVER! And i can’t keep my own secrets either. But I’m aces with your secrets.

Anyway, congrats girl! Hope your feeling better soon.

  11. Congratulations!! I got sick with all four of my pregnancies…my second(my son) was the only one that I got sick every 15 minutes for the whole pregnancy though. I wish I could tell you some tried and true methods that work to alleviate it, but NOTHING I did worked and I spent everyday for months in bed…sorry! Very lucky to have Grandma with you, you’ll feel like yourself again soon!!

  12. Congrats on the baby to come, not so much on the voms! I puked till I was almost 6 months pregnant, it sucks, really really hard! Hope it gets better for you! Graham crackers and tart apples 24/7 was all that ever worked for me.

  13. CONGRATS!!!!!! How exciting!!!!!!
Oh girl, I’m so sorry that you’re sick. If your symptoms are serious, check out this site and look over their list of symptoms…and talk to the doctor!

I had Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG) and it was the devil. It was almost impossible to stay hydrated, even with drugs, but thankfully I was able to avoid the hospital this time. Some women find that the pulse band works (http://www.seasicknessreliefband.com/Relief-Band-Voyager-Sea-Sickness-Relief-Device_p_11.html?gclid=COSQ7L-P_qICFRhuswodalBNZA) but for me it didn’t. And Zofran and B6/Unisom at night only helped a little. I was basically on bed rest for months and couldn’t even tuck my kids in at night. It KILLED me to be so absent in their lives. The Boss is so young that he won’t remember this small time where you’re out of commission…promise. If you want to vent, feel free to contact me!
    *hug*

  14. Congrats but oh no fun!
I was like that so I took Dicluctin. It’s in Canada but maybe you can get it there. It’s safe and it takes the edge off so you can at least function. It’s a bit expensive without coverage. The great thing is there are NO nasty side effects. How close are you to a Canadian or Canadian border?:)

Another option (I don’t know if the US has this either) but there are natural garvol tablets with ginger that cut down the queasy. I took regular gravol after the three month mark quite regularly with my first and she is the healthiest one. The Dr. said taking it sometimes to keep nutrients down, put less stress on my system is better for the baby than if I didn’t take it because the baby gets stressed with me.

If you don’t find any of that- go to message ( pregnancy) they have trigger points for helping. Also seriously see a naturopath. I love mine and they really have many things to help. It’s so worth the money if you get a good one! ( Get recommendations. They are like Dr.s – some are amazing- some really suck.)

    Hope that helps!

  15. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! I was worried about you!

Being preggie pukey with a toddler is really hard…. so dont be too hard on yourself… The Boss will be fine.

For me… Preggie Pops, Mentos, Peppermint ice cream, Ice cold milk… laying down…..and I puked for the entire time…Hang in there and remember that it is all very much worth it!!!!! Super excited for you! Watching your kids bond and love each other is unlike anything you can imagine…..

  16. Oh, congratulations!! I know how you feel. I was so sick with my second one and I had a one year old on my hands. It was rough, but it passed and I felt better in the second trimester. You’ll get through it. I can’t wait to see you on Saturday and I hope you’re feeling great that day!

  17. Oh my goodness!! HUGE congrats!!! I can’t wait to “meet” the next Boss/Bossette 🙂
Sorry about the pukeys though, how miserable! Praying that it eases soon for you x

  18. First, congratulations! s/he will be worth this ickiness.

Second, I was sick as a dog with my daughter, and my OB recommended a half a Unisom- but, it has the be the kind with Doxylamine (there is another kind of Unisom with another ingredient)- that is the ‘drug’ (antihistamine really!) that is in the Canadian morning sickness med!

It was a godsend for me. I took a half a Unisom each night- it helped me sleep, and I had zero nausea the next day. I took it up until 21 weeks (that little booger!)

Best of luck to you and hope it gets better quickly!

  19. I knew! Yes because I’ve done this four times already my boobs are natural preggers detectors. If a friend of mine, within a 200 mile radius, has a bun in the ole oven the girls start squawking like seagulls until the occupied uterus is revealed. Okay so actually you told me a while back but hey that other thing could be true too, right?

  20. Congratulations!! I hear you with the nonstop nausea. Mine was terrible. I had a couple of things work. Before I ever put a toe on the ground, I would eat a slice of bread and butter (or country crock if I was craving it) in the morning. It helped me get up so I could at least pee without dry heaving first thing. Then I’d eat breakfast. I quit Saltines because my doc told me it can make it worse since preggo nausea is caused by hormones, not an upset stomach. I also started a B6 vitamin regiment and that helped me get through the afternoon and sometimes night. I also made sure my stomach was never empty because that made it worse, too. I ate a lot of sour candy too. Your brain can’t do nausea and sour at the same time. So Skittles, Starburst, Sour Patch Kids, etc. were my devoted friends. Hope that helps a little! Congrats again! How exciting!!

  21. Congrats! I puked for 7 months w/ both my pregnancies (so violently, in fact, that I continuously popped blood vessels in my face). I took Zofran daily, but surprisingly, hanging out in a pool was the only thing that truly seemed to work. Granted, bathing suits were not exactly my cup of tea while growing to the size of a cow, but we’re talking about curbing nausea, right!?!;)

  22. i have been waiting for WEEKS for this post dude. you know how many tweets i’ve had to mysteriously sign off on?!?!

phew, so glad this is out. cuz ya know, it’s all about me.

love love LOVE to you mama.

  23. Congrats! NO remedies here, I threw up almost every morn for the first four months of this pregnancy. And by morn I mean 1 or 2 am, I was seriously Zombie mom the first half of this pregnancy. So ready for little man to be here ( due DEC 9th ).
Sadly, I never got to be the glowing kind either. Babies rock, but being pregnant bites.

    Good luck!

  24. My sister in puking solidarity! I am so sorry you are going through this…but so stoked you are expecting! Your little guy will be over the moon with his bro or sis.

I find that if I take ANY pills at all I am a mess. Ditto for drinking a glass of water within an hour of eating. Which is hard to stay hydrated since I’m always eating…

I’m praying for ya that it passes ASAP!

  25. *freak out*

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY!!!! I am SO EXCITED FOR YOU!!! The Boss is going to be the bestest big brother in the history of big brothers. ❤

Please to be throwing some babydust my way, thanks. 🙂
