Just Sitting here on the corner of Awesome and Bombdiggity.

Yup. Today is my birthday andย  have decided that in this, my thirtieth (again) year I shall simply be awesome.

Oh, I don’t mean that suddenly my head has exploded with ego…no, no. I am still the same insecure wreck I was last year. My brain is still a constant cycle of negative self talk and anxiety. I’m telling you it is a par-tay up in cabeza de Stephania.

However on this, my thirtieth (again) birthday I declare that this year shall be spent letting GO of at least some of that self doubt. Go Dog GO!

Because listen, I am not a size zero. I am not 6 feet tall. I didn’t turn out to be a super model. But I am pretty blessed. First and foremost; my boys, my babies, are here and healthy and just for reals the bombdiggity. Second: I gots me a hubby who is a good honest man and as an added bonus he makes me laugh till my eyes water. Third: Mumsy is awesome. Forth: we live with my in-laws. I know, not normally a blessing, right? But mine are pretty cool and we get to save money to move (soon we hope) and hey! free babysitting! Fourth: I am blessed to love The Boss’ preschool. Even if he doesn’t right now. Sad panda. Fifth: I am resilient. I beat an eating disorder just before it beat me. I moved across the country away from my home and friends and have slowly made a life for myself. My once much abused body rallied and built not one, but two beautiful babies. I’ve struggled with postpartum anxiety and am winning the war. Sixth: super awesome bombdiggity friends. Dub, WWJD, Miss Katie, and all my others. I am so very lucky. I include you, my ‘make believe in the computer friends’. I am grateful for each and every one of you.

For my birthday I declare that you are awesome too. BTW you look great today! yes, you!

Mine is Saturday, a much better birthday day because it is Constitution Day, and everyone knows Constitution Day is the best unheard of holiday to have a birthday.

At least yours is in September, too, and you’re a Virgo like me. WE ARE AWESOME!

    • i MISSED YOUR BIRTHDAY! I am so sorry. I had no idea that Constitution day was a thing. From now on it me it will always be Angie’s birthday!

  3. September 15th is certainly a banner day for me. It was the day a sweet, beautiful, baby girl with big blue eyes, brown fluffy hair and the porcelain skin of an angel came into my life. Thirty years later, I am
continually impressed and immensly proud of the valiant, immensely strong but still tender-hearted and totally unique woman that baby has become. A truly wise woman, sharp witted, a good wife, loving mother and stalwart friend and defender of truth and justice. She makes her mother (and I’m sure, her father) very proud.

  4. Happy Birthday!! An insecure wreck? You? Well, then you, my dear, are one fabulous actress because you ooze positivity and poise. And having just said good-bye to my wonderful MIL who was here for a few days helping w/ my boys, I agree that, hell yeah, cool in-laws & free babysitting is a blessing!

I’m devastated to hear that The Boss is not loving preschool. Give it time. It’s a big adjustment for everyone.

  5. Where’s the “like” button on your mom’s post?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!! Glad to hear that you are embracing your awesome-ness! You are truely blessed… Hope you had a ROCKING day!

      • LOL.. Thanks… I am doing okay.. The shock and disbelief has worn off… acceptance has taken its place and excitement is starting to creep in… and I have become resolved that I just need to be thankful that I am the most frigging fertile person I know – especially since so many would be thrilled to be blessed with a healthy pregnancy…and to get over my “this is not the right or ideal anything…” So while the idea of 3 kids (plus the faux step-daughter) has me slightly freaked for a multiple of reasons… I am keeping all crossables crossed that I get to meet a healthy baby girl is just around 5 months… So Thank you! The easiest pregnancy so far.. which is a good thing… I keep waiting to hear about your next one.. You guys make the cutest kids!!! Seriously!

  6. The title of this post just made me giggle. I love it! A VERY Happy Birthday to you! What a great little post of things you’re grateful for. Indeed, you do have much to be thankful for, as we all do, if we’d just sit back and recognize the good in our lives every now and then. So happy that you’re happy. And YAY on the possible moving (soon you hope).

  7. Hope your day was fantastic! And thanks for the compliment at the end. It must be the new shirt I’m wearing. I maintain that you are the funniest writer on the internet these days. I’m lucky to have found you.

    • I am a master at beating myself up. It’s so hard! I would never say something to another in the way I talk to myself…why is it so hard? Counting blessings helps me a lot.

  8. Oh, Boss. Emery feels your pain & would cry real tears at dropoff with you if we weren’t on the other side of the globe.
And you? Are awesome. It’s a good thing to realize how blessed we are. Thanks for the reminder. xoxo
