Sesame Place Furry Christmas GIVEAWAY!

Can you tell me how to get to Sesame Street? When I was little I thought it was Stephanie Street. In fact I almost named this blog Stephanie Street, but there is an actual woman named Stephanie Street and she owned the url. THE NERVE! (I also thought the magic words were Open Stephanie but perhaps that’s a matter for Dr. Freud.)

My point is, that besides being the quintessential only child in my early youth, I loved me some Sesame Street. I still do. Especially Grover. There is not enough Grover on the street these days if you ask me, not that anyone did.

So, we took The Boss to Sesame Place for his third birthday waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in July and he said wanted 2 things “I am going to say hello to Ernie and he is going to say hello to me and we will play together” and “I am going to hug Abby Condabby” Both of those things happened.

And now a dream come true:

But then….BUT THEN…

He still talks about it. Whenever anyone asks him how old he is he says three. and I went to sesame place.

So. Who wants to take their kiddo to Sesame Place’s Furry Christmas? I have a family four pack of tickets to give away! Guys they are even open New Years Eve which I think would be totally cool to go to. This giveaway will go till Monday night at midnight so we can do a quick turnaround for Furry Christmas! We will be taking the Boss and his cousin Zuzu to it and I can’t wait to see Zuzu freak out. It’s incredible.

Per usual you can enter just by leaving me a comment telling me who your favorite Sesame Street Muppet is. You know I am Team Grover. (If we are talking Muppet Show then I am wocka wocka. You know what I mean!)

You can get an additional entry by subscribing to my RSS feed! (please do this if you follow me on google friend connect because it’s going on away next month and I am hating that. Not that they asked me. People should really ask me things because I have some great ideas!)

An extra entry for following Sesame Place on twitter

An extra entry for following me.

Leave a separate comment for each one and I will announce the winner bright and early Tuesday morning. Or maybe Monday at 12:01 EST. Cause I am excited.

**My family was provided tickets to Sesame Place as part of the Sesame Place Ambassador program, which saved me a boatload of money because we were going to take him there before they asked me. Total win for me! All the opinions expressed are mine and mine alone.¬† The only negative part of our experience is that The Boss is terrified of every member of Mr. Noodle’s family, including Mr. Noodle’s nephew Mr. Noodle in Elmo’s World Live. But really that’s my fault for taking him in there…I shoulda known. No worries, he forgot all about it by the time we got to Elmo Rocks and only talks about what a blast he had.

it went a little something like this…

First, we we’re the meanest parents ever by forcing The Boss to stand unclothed under a stream of warm running water. Then:

“Don’t say that!”

Boss cry
“No Mommy!”

Graham cracker

And because I am awesome mom I decided to take pictures instead of, you know, getting him graham crackers. The Boss apparently find hotels a little upsetting and graham crackers are the only cure. {He did eventually¬† get his magic graham crackers, don’t you worry!}

“I want you to get the kiss off”

So. Preschool.

Max first day of school

I had prepared The Boss well, he knew exactly what would happen. How the day would go and he was very excited about it. School. SCHOOL!  We woke early and he patiently allowed us to take about 300 pictures before we hopped in the car to go. He was very anxious and gleefully pointed out every school bus we saw along the way. That kid can spot a school bus a mile away. Literally.

I was glad to see so many other parents there taking pictures and fighting off tears. TOTT and I walked Max in, got him settled and then…

Max at school!

Then I walked away.

Max at work

And cried.

Not where Boss could see of course, but I did cry. I was surprised that every motherly instinct in my body was screaming

But I did. And he had so much fun. He was thrilled to see me when the day was over. And I was thrilled to see him.

you came back!

I couldn’t hug him tight enough. We came home, had lunch and rested.

Thursday was day two, would it go as well as day one?

“Mommy, we are going to school and you have to walk away and then I will play with the nice kids and when school is over you will come back”

boss day 2 of school

I guess so!

“Teacher is going to say to me *insert Boss’ full name here* do you want to play with some toys and I will say yes, teacher”

My heart!

He practically raced into the school, waiting impatiently for the classroom to be open. A parent told him they liked his Buzz Lightyear backpack and Boss informed them that Buzz was cool because he could fly. I asked if he could fly and he said “No mommy, I have legs!” So, there ya go. He kept saying I love my school over and over, it was so sweet! His teacher came out and told me how well he had done on his first day and I thanked her. I wanted to hug her and cry thank you for taking such good care of my baby! but I thought that might be a touch too much.

I kissed the palm of his hand, the way mumsy had mine, and told him if he needed a kiss during the day he could just take that one. He said emphatically I want you to get the kiss off. I suppose you really can’t play when you’re trying to keep a kiss in your hand. Teacher said “who wants to paint?” Boss raised his hand high and yelled ME! Taking off like a shot he was first in the room running straight to his chair. I called him back and made him give me a kiss goodbye, which he did happily and then raced back in the room. Unable to just walk away I followed him in and got him settled kissed his chubby cheek and left.

Wow. My kid continues to amaze me,and I continue to be amazed at how powerful the love I have for him is.This is the first step out of the nest for us. We did okay. Even if I did cry a little in my soy latte.

Rainy day dreams….

It is possible that I am one of perhaps a handful of people in the DC Metro area who are LOVING this weather! Oh, I wish it would stick around for a while. Like say, till March. Let’s just skip the dreadful winter with all of it’s crazy blizzards and horrible colds. Let’s just have Fall this year, for months and months and months. Let’s have wonderful sweaters, scarves and boots. Let’s have pumpkin spice lattes. Let’s have warm colors and walks on the falling leaves followed by hot chocolate (with Bailey’s for mama s’il vous plait!) Let’s have one good rainy day a week followed by crisp cool weather perfect for afternoon football games in the park and making cookies!

This is only fair since last winter was gawdawful and then we had no spring. Freezing snow. Boiling hot humidity. That’s how it went round these parts.

This week, for me, has been divine. It’s just the right amount of falling rain followed by an hour or two of breakthrough sun. It’s jeans, boots and sweater weather. Perfect for going back to school…or school for the first time!

Everyone is complaining about the rain, but I am as happy as Catsby all curled up right next to the window, his purr keeping time with the rainfall.

What’s your favorite thing about Fall?
